The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC), established in 1988 under Legal Notice No. 119, promotes Kenya’s music and performing arts as tools for cultural preservation, national development, and cohesion. Operating under the State Department for Culture and Heritage, it fosters creativity, professional growth, and innovation in the music industry. PPMC organizes music festivals, conducts research, and provides training to artists, enhancing their skills and competitiveness. Additionally, it supports the preservation of traditional music while encouraging the integration of contemporary elements to reflect Kenya’s diverse cultural heritage.

Dr. Donald Otoyo Ondieki holds a Doctorate in Music from Kenyatta University. With extensive experience in cultural
management, he has contributed significantly to promoting Kenya’s music heritage. Dr. Ondieki has organized
numerous national and international cultural programs, focusing on the preservation and development of Kenyan music and performing arts.
