The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) was established under the Kenya National Youth Council Act, 2009, and began operations in 2010. Its primary mandate is to advise the Kenya National Youth Council on youth issues, including policies, strategies, and programs. The Board plays a critical role in representing youth interests, advocating for their needs, and ensuring that youth are actively involved in governance and decision-making. It also monitors the implementation of youth programs, supports youth empowerment initiatives, and promotes sustainable development goals in Kenya.
Functions
- Advising the Kenya National Youth Council: Provide expert advice on youth-related issues and policy matters.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development and review of national youth policies and programs.
- Representation of Youth Interests: Represent the views and concerns of youth in governance and decision-making processes.
- Monitoring Implementation: Oversee the implementation of youth programs and initiatives at the national and county levels.
