The Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) was established in 1965 to promote and facilitate trade in Kenya and the region. Its primary mandate is to stabilize prices of essential commodities by importing and distributing key products like food and construction materials. KNTC also focuses on improving the availability of these products, particularly in underserved markets. Over the years, it has played a key role in the government’s food security and price stabilization efforts. Its infrastructure supports both wholesale and retail trade across Kenya​

Peter Njoroge is the Acting Managing Director of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC). He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Moi University and has extensive public service experience, including roles in the National Treasury. His expertise spans finance and strategic management​

Functions

  • Price Stabilization: Ensure stable prices for essential commodities like food and construction materials.

  • Importation of Essential Goods: Import critical products like fertilizers, food, and industrial items.
  • Market Access: Improve access to products in underserved and marginalized areas.
