The Department of Business Reforms and Transformation (DBRT) in Kenya was established under Executive Order No. 1 of 2020. Its mandate focuses on enhancing the Ease of Doing Business by implementing policies that attract investment, promoting Special Economic Zones, and driving regulatory reforms. The DBRT also
engages with stakeholders to improve the business climate, monitors the implementation of recommended reforms, and champions automation of government services. Overall, it aims to create a conducive environment for both local and foreign investments, supporting Kenya’s economic growth.

Functions

  • Facilitating Ease of Doing Business: The DBRT promotes initiatives that streamline business processes to enhance the overall business environment in Kenya.
  • Investment Policy Development: It is responsible for the development and implementation of investment policies and strategies aimed at attracting both domestic and foreign investments.
