The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) was established under the Political Parties Act, 2007 and began operations in 2008. Ann Nderitu is the Registrar of Political Parties and CEO of the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP). With over 24 years of experience in public administration, elections management, and governance, she holds a Bachelor’s in Education, a Master’s in Linguistics, and a PhD candidate in Organizational Leadership.

Functions
- Registration of Political Parties: Oversee the registration of political parties in compliance with the Political Parties Act, 2007.
- Regulation of Political Party Activities: Monitor the activities of political parties to ensure they adhere to legal provisions.
- Party Membership Management: Maintain a register of political party members and oversee the procedures for membership.
- Monitoring Party Finances: Ensure transparency in the funding and financial management of political parties.
- Facilitate Political Party Funding: Administer the disbursement of public funds to eligible political parties.
- Ensure Internal Democracy: Promote and enforce internal democratic practices within political parties.
- Party Dispute Resolution: Resolve disputes within political parties through mediation and legal frameworks.
- Facilitate Party Mergers and Alliances: Oversee the legal requirements for political party mergers and alliances.
- Advise the Government: Provide the government with advice on matters related to political parties and their operations.
- Public Education and Awareness: Educate the public and political parties on political party laws and democratic principles.
