The Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal was established under the Advocates Act (Cap. 16) of the Laws of Kenya in 1967 to ensure the maintenance of discipline within the legal profession. The Tribunal hears and determines complaints against advocates, investigates professional misconduct, and imposes sanctions when necessary. It plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of the legal profession by addressing issues such as unethical behavior, professional misconduct, and violations of the Advocates Act. CEO: William Maema
William Maema is a Senior Partner at IKM Advocates, DLA Piper Africa’s member firm in Kenya, and serves as the Chair of the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Nairobi and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. With over 30 years of experience, Maema specializes in corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, and employment law. He has lectured at the University of Nairobi and the Kenya School of Law.

Functions
