The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) was established in 2008 under the Kenya Roads Act, No. 2 of 2007. It is responsible for the development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of Kenya’s national trunk road network, including roads classified as national highways. KeNHA manages road planning, design, and construction, ensuring the roads meet the highest quality and safety standards. The authority plays a key role in supporting economic growth by improving road infrastructure and connectivity across Kenya, contributing to efficient transportation and trade within the region.

With over 20 years of experience in road infrastructure, he has worked in various leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, contributing significantly to Kenya’s road development and maintenance initiatives.

Functions

  • Develop and Maintain National Highways: Oversee the planning, construction, and maintenance of major trunk roads.
  • Design and Construction: Ensure proper design and execution of road projects to meet safety and quality standards.

  • Advise the Government: Provide technical advice on policies related to national roads.
  • Manage Toll Collection: Administer toll systems on designated roads for efficient revenue collection.
  • Supervise Contractors: Oversee contractors and consultants involved in road projects to ensure quality delivery.
  • Sustainable Development: Conduct environmental impact assessments for road construction projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with various stakeholders to improve road infrastructure and service delivery.
