The Co-ordinating Committee of the East African Community (EAC) is an important body formed under the Treaty for the Establishment of the EAC. It began operations on January 15, 2001. The Committee’s primary role is to ensure the effective coordination and implementation of decisions and policies made by the Summit and the Council of Ministers. It oversees the functioning of the EAC’s organs and institutions, providing recommendations to enhance regional integration. The Committee helps streamline processes, ensuring smooth collaboration between member states to achieve the EAC’s objectives.

Abdi Dubat Fidhow, C.B.S, is the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, where he leads the Co-ordinating Committee of the East African Community (EAC). Functions
