The Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) was established in 1979 under the Lake Basin Development Authority Act, Cap 442, and began operations in 1980. It is mandated to promote and coordinate sustainable development within the Lake Victoria Basin and its catchment areas. LBDA focuses on managing natural resources, supporting agriculture, enhancing water resource development, and promoting environmental conservation. The authority implements integrated regional projects aimed at improving livelihoods, boosting economic growth, and ensuring food security. CPA Wycliffe O. Ochiaga, EBS, is a distinguished accountant and governance expert with extensive experience in public sector auditing and financial management. Previously serving as LBDA’s Director of Internal Audit, he is recognized for strengthening accountability and driving sustainable development initiatives within the Lake Victoria Basin region.

Functions
