The National Mining Corporation (NMC) of Kenya was established in 2014 under the Mining Act, 2016. It was formed by the Kenyan government to serve as the investment arm in the mining sector, spearheading resource exploration, development, and mineral extraction. The NMC’s primary objective is to maximize the value of Kenya’s mineral resources through strategic investments and public-private partnerships. Its formation aims to ensure that mineral wealth benefits the country’s economy while promoting responsible mining practices.

Mr. Edward Omito currently serves as the Acting CEO of the National Mining Corporation (NAMICO) in Kenya. He has been actively involved in overseeing key projects, including significant partnerships aimed at boosting the country’s mining sector, such as the Memorandum of Understanding with Dehai Kenya Mining Ltd. His leadership focuses on fostering responsible mining practices and driving investment in minerals like manganese, copper, and gold.
