The Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) was established in 2016 under the Private Security Regulation Act, No. 13 of 2016 and began its operations in 2017. The Authority’s primary mandate is to regulate the private security industry in Kenya. It oversees the licensing and registration of private security firms, sets training standards, ensures compliance with regulations, and promotes professionalism within the sector. PSRA also addresses complaints against private security providers, collaborates with law enforcement, and safeguards the rights of both security service providers and users.

Fazul Mahamed is the Director General of the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) in Kenya. He holds a degree in criminology and has extensive experience in security management and regulatory affairs.

Functions
