The East African Marine Cable System Limited (EASSy) is a consortium of telecom operators in Eastern and Southern Africa, established to enhance regional connectivity through a high-capacity undersea fiber optic cable. Operational since July 2010, EASSy connects coastal and landlocked countries to international internet networks in Europe and Asia, improving access to reliable, high-speed broadband. Its mandate includes bridging the digital divide, lowering internet costs, and supporting socio-economic growth by facilitating better communication infrastructure. EASSy plays a crucial role in advancing Africa’s digital economy and global integration.
