Functions

  • Oversee Fund Allocation: Advise on the effective allocation of funds to projects that enhance ICT access in underserved areas.
  • Promote Digital Inclusion: Ensure equitable access to ICT services for all Kenyans, especially in remote and marginalized regions.
  • Monitor Fund Utilization: Oversee the implementation of projects funded by the USF to ensure they meet their objectives.
  • Advise on ICT Infrastructure Projects: Guide the deployment of mobile and broadband infrastructure in underserved areas.
  • Support Capacity Building: Promote initiatives that increase digital literacy and skill development in underserved communities.
  • Encourage Innovation: Support projects that foster innovation in the ICT sector, particularly in agriculture, education, and health.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Advise on the compliance of ICT service providers with USF regulations.
  • Advocate for Sustainable Projects: Recommend long-term, sustainable ICT projects that align with national development goals.
  • Encourage Public-Private Partnerships: Facilitate collaboration between government, telecom providers, and other stakeholders to leverage resources.
  • Reporting and Accountability: Monitor and report on the performance of the USF, ensuring transparency in the fund’s operations.
