The Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (KTTA) is a regulatory body established to oversee tissue and organ transplants in Kenya. Its mandate includes promoting organ donation awareness, ensuring ethical practices in transplant services, and maintaining a registry for donors and recipients. The authority also conducts research and training to enhance the quality of transplant services, advocates for policies that support organ donation, and monitors compliance with health regulations. Dr. Maurice Wakwabubi is the Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (KTTA). He holds
a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree, complemented by advanced training in transplant medicine. With extensive experience in health management and organ transplantation, Dr. Wakwabubi plays a crucial role in enhancing organ donation and transplantation services in Kenya.

Functions
- Regulation of Transplant Services: Ensure that all tissue and organ transplant services are conducted ethically and in compliance with national standards.
- Promotion of Organ Donation: Advocate for voluntary organ and tissue donation through public awareness campaigns.
- Registry Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive registry for organ donors, recipients, and transplant service providers.
- Training and Capacity Building: Provide training and education for healthcare professionals involved in transplantation and tissue services.
- Policy Development: Formulate and promote policies related to organ donation and transplantation to improve service delivery.
- Research and Development: Conduct and support research in the field of transplantation to enhance practices and outcomes.
- Collaboration: Work with local and international partners to enhance organ donation and transplantation services.
