Overview
The Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) was established in 1986 under the Science and Technology Act. Its mandate is to conduct research in forestry and allied natural resources, providing scientific knowledge to enhance forest conservation and management. KEFRI aims to improve livelihoods through sustainable forestry practices, addressing environmental challenges. The institute has achieved notable success in developing innovative technologies for tree improvement, pest management, and agroforestry systems. Additionally, it plays a vital role in policy formulation, contributing to national and global efforts in combating climate change and promoting biodiversity conservation.
Dr. Jane Njuguna is the acting CEO of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and Secretary to the Board. She holds a BSc in Botany and Zoology, an MSc in Forest Science, and a PhD in Forest Mycology and Pathology. Dr. Njuguna is committed to advancing forestry research and environmental sustainability

- Resource Management: Develop management strategies for the conservation and sustainable utilization of forest resources.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the impacts of forestry projects and programs to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
