The University of Embu, established in 2011 as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi, gained full university status in 2013. Located in Embu County, Kenya, the university offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields such as education, business, health sciences, and technology. The university is dedicated to academic excellence, research, and community engagement. It emphasizes practical skills, innovation, and leadership development, preparing students to address local and global challenges. The University of Embu plays a key role in promoting sustainable development in the region and beyond.

Vice-Chancellor : Prof. Daniel Mugendi Njiru, Ph.D.

Prof. Daniel Mugendi Njiru, holds a Ph.D. in Agroforestry from the University of Florida,
USA, an M.Sc. in Crop Science/Horticulture from the University of Nairobi, and a B.Sc.
in Forestry from Moi University. He is an accomplished researcher, ranked 12th in
Kenya and 628th in Africa in 2023. Prof. Njiru has received the Elder of the Order of
Burning Spear (EBS) award for his contribution to education and has extensive
experience in university management.
