South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) was established in 2008 as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi, offering a variety of academic programs. It gained full university status in 2016 through the South Eastern Kenya University Act, which granted it autonomy. SEKU aims to provide high-quality education, foster research, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the southeastern region of Kenya. The university offers programs in diverse fields, including business, education, engineering, and health sciences. SEKU is committed to promoting innovation, community development, and sustainable practices in its academic and research endeavors.

Vice Chancellor : Prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda

Professor Eng. Douglas Shitanda holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi. He has a wealth of experience in academia and engineering, specializing in
infrastructure development and sustainable projects. He has served in various academic
leadership roles, contributing to research, innovation, and the advancement of engineering education.
