Pwani University

Overview

Pwani University, located in Kilifi, Kenya, began operations as a full university in 2007, initially as the Kilifi Institute of Science and Technology. It became a constituent college of the University of Nairobi before attaining independent university status through the Pwani University Act, 2012. The institution offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, focusing on fields such as education, science, business, and humanities. Pwani University is committed to providing high-quality education, conducting research, and promoting sustainable development, particularly in the coastal region of Kenya. It also aims to contribute to the nation’s economic growth.

Vice Chancellor : Prof. James H. P. Kahindi, PHD

Prof. Julius Tanui, PhD, has over 20 years of experience in Environmental Geo-information and Sustainable Development. He holds a PhD from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. A specialist in environmental education and GIS, he has published 23 papers, led international projects, and received the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) award.
