Ruthimitu Primary

Ruthimitu Primary School is a public, mixed-gender day school located in the Uthiru/Ruthimitu area of Dagoretti South, Nairobi, which serves approximately 919 students with a dedicated staff of 11 TSC-employed teachers. Established with roots dating back to the 1920s—originally founded as an independent school to provide education outside the mission system—the institution today operates with 17 classrooms and faces significant infrastructural challenges, including high pupil-to-toilet ratios and a lack of consistent running water. Despite these difficulties, the school maintains a strong community connection through an active alumni network that supports prize-giving and curriculum-approved resources, while also benefiting from government-led health initiatives like bi-annual deworming programs. Recent local efforts have increasingly focused on revitalizing its aging facilities, with parents and local leaders advocating for further investment in its Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) center and perimeter security to ensure a safe, conducive learning environment for the children of the Ruthimitu community.
