Murang’a Road Primary

Located on Ramesh Gautama Road in the Ngara area of Nairobi, Murang’a Road Primary School is a public, mixed-gender institution that historically offered both day and boarding options. In recent years, the school has faced significant administrative challenges, including a widely publicized push by the Ministry of Education in early 2022 to close it and repurpose the facilities to decongest the neighboring Murang’a County Girls High School. At the time of this proposed takeover, the school reported a declining population of approximately 80 to 84 learners, which officials used to justify the conversion into a junior secondary school facility. Despite protests from the Board of Management and parents who feared for their children’s continued education and costs associated with transferring schools, teachers were redeployed and the school faced indefinite closure periods.
