Located in the heart of Nairobi’s central business district within the Starehe constituency, Moi Avenue Primary School is a public, mixed-day primary institution with a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1938. Originally founded as a girls’ school and later known as Government Road Primary, it was renamed in 1978 in honor of Kenya’s second president, Daniel arap Moi. The school is uniquely distinguished by its administration block, a gazetted national monument built in 1901 by Alibhai Mulla Jeevanjee that originally served as the office for Nairobi’s first commissioner, John Ainsworth. As of 2025, the school supports over 700 students and has successfully integrated the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), including the enrollment of Junior Secondary School (JSS) students in Grade 7 and above.
