Kiwanja Primary

Kiwanja Primary School is a mixed-gender, day-only educational institution located in the densely populated Kahawa area of Nairobi, Kenya, situated within the Roysambu Constituency near Kenyatta University Nyayo Hostels. While some sources classify it as a private school run by an individual, Ministry of Education data identifies it as a public institution, managed under either local government authority or a central government DEB, which follows the national curriculum provided by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). The school serves a significant student population, with an approximate student-to-classroom ratio of 45.6:1 across its 16 classrooms. In early 2025, the school benefited from substantial infrastructural upgrades, including the commissioning of new classrooms, a completely renovated administration block, a 16-unit ablution block (with facilities for persons with disabilities/PWDs), and the repair of a borehole to ensure a constant water supply, a major improvement for the facility. Despite these recent enhancements that aim to upgrade facilities for a seamless learning experience, past studies have indicated the school was not fully disability-friendly, highlighting ongoing efforts toward complete inclusivity in its educational environment.
