Kihumbuini Primary

Established in 1982 to serve the growing population of the Kangemi informal settlement in Nairobi, New Kihumbuini Primary School is a prominent public day school under the management of the local government authority. As a mixed-gender institution, it currently supports a large student body of over 2,300 pupils and 200 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners, who are guided by a dedicated team of approximately 37 teachers. The school has recently undergone significant transformations through the Westlands NG-CDF, which funded the refurbishment of over 30 classrooms and the addition of modern amenities like metallic doors, floor tiles, and a perimeter wall to enhance student safety. Despite facing challenges such as overcrowding and teacher shortages—with average class sizes reaching up to 75 students—the school remains a vital community hub.
