Kangemi Primary

Founded in 1927, Kangemi Primary School is a prominent public day school in Nairobi’s Westlands Sub-County that provides essential education to over 1,700 students from the neighboring low-income informal settlements of Gichagi, Rift Valley, and Village Inn. Undergoing a massive transformation in recent years, the institution has evolved from a state of severe neglect into a “child-friendly” modern facility through extensive government-funded renovations that added 10 new classrooms in 2023, refurbished existing blocks, and introduced a state-of-the-art computer lab. The school is also a regional hub for inclusive education, hosting a specialized unit for learners with diverse mental and physical disabilities, supported by international partnerships such as the Australian High Commission. Academically, the school maintains a competitive presence, with top-performing students consistently scoring over 400 marks in national exams, while the 2023 addition of its first dedicated school bus has further enhanced its capacity to serve the local community.
