A.E.F. Ruben Primary & Junior School is a critical public-sponsored institution in Nairobi’s Mukuru Kwa Ruben slum, currently serving a growing population of approximately 4,400 learners in 2025. Founded in 1986 and now managed as a flagship project of the Ruben Centre under the sponsorship of the Christian Brothers, it remains the only government-affiliated school in the immediate settlement. The school provides a comprehensive, free education that includes Early Childhood Development (ECDE), primary, and a recently expanded Junior Secondary School—highlighted by the 2025 unveiling of nine new classrooms to accommodate Grade 9 students. Beyond standard academics following the national Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), the institution offers a holistic support system including a special needs unit for children with disabilities, a nutritional program providing two free meals daily, and advanced technology integration through a 100-tablet ICT Hub
