The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) was established in 1992 under the Kenya Airports Authority Act (Cap 395) to manage and operate airports in Kenya. Its mandate includes overseeing the development, management, and maintenance of airport infrastructure, ensuring safety and efficiency in airport operations. KAA operates major airports like Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Wilson Airport, and several regional airports. The authority plays a key role in supporting the country’s aviation sector, facilitating domestic and international travel, and contributing to economic growth by enhancing connectivity and promoting Kenya as a regional aviation hub.

Mr. Nicholas Bodo is the Acting Managing Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA). He has extensive experience in management, aviation, and infrastructure development. His leadership focuses on improving airport operations, enhancing safety, and driving growth. Bodo has held various senior roles in Kenya’s transport sector.

  • Air Traffic Coordination: Coordinate air traffic services, ensuring safe and smooth operations within Kenyan airspace.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure airports and operations comply with national and international aviation standards and regulations.
  • Revenue Generation: Manage airport commercial activities, including retail, cargo, and services to generate revenue.
  • Passenger Services: Provide excellent customer services, including amenities, information, and assistance for passengers at airports.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Implement environmentally sustainable practices in airport operations and development.
  • Investment and Partnerships: Attract investment for airport expansion and engage in public-private partnerships for infrastructure projects.
  • Capacity Building: Provide training and development programs to enhance the skills of airport personnel and improve operational efficiency.
