The Mechanical and Transport Fund (MTF) was established in 2003 through Legal Notice No. 140 under the Exchequer and Audit Act (Cap 412). It serves as a financial framework for the planning, development, management, and regulation of mechanical and transport services in Kenya. The Fund facilitates the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of government vehicles and equipment. Functions
- Fleet Acquisition: Facilitate the procurement of government vehicles and mechanical equipment to support public sector operations.
- Fleet Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of government vehicles and equipment to ensure efficiency and reliability.
- Disposal of Assets: Manage the disposal of obsolete, damaged, or surplus government vehicles and mechanical equipment in accordance with established regulations.
