The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) was established under the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Act (Cap 225) of 1965, beginning operations in 1966.The foundation’s primary mandate is to support education in Kenya by providing textbooks, educational resources, and scholarships to underprivileged students. Over the years, JKF has expanded its role in promoting access to quality education and contributing to the development of the nation’s human capital. It focuses on improving learning environments and enhancing educational opportunities for disadvantaged students, particularly in rural and marginalized areas of Kenya.

Mr. David Mwaniki is the Managing Director and Secretary to the Board of The Jomo
Kenyatta Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting option) from the University of Nairobi, an MBA from the Management University of Africa, and ACCA II. He joined the Foundation in November 1997 and was confirmed as Managing Director in October 2021.
