The Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA), established under the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration Act, 2013, began operations in 2015. It provides a platform for resolving commercial and investment disputes through arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods. NCIA aims to position Kenya as a hub for international arbitration in Africa. The Centre offers arbitration services, administers arbitrations, and provides facilities for hearings. It also works to promote the growth of alternative dispute resolution in Kenya, offering a neutral and effective environment for dispute resolution both locally and internationally.
CEO: Lawrence Muiruri Ngugi
Lawrence Muiruri Ngugi is the Registrar/Board Secretary of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration. He holds expertise as an arbitrator and accredited mediator. Ngugi is a member of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration and represents Kenya at UNCITRAL Working Groups on Arbitration & Conciliation and Online Dispute Resolution.
