Bomas of Kenya

Overview

Bomas of Kenya, established under the Bomas of Kenya Act, 2004, serves as a cultural center dedicated to promoting and preserving Kenya’s diverse heritage. Its mandate includes hosting national events, cultural performances, and exhibitions that showcase the country’s traditions. The center aims to foster national unity and pride through cultural exchange. Under the leadership of CPA Nixon Mugilwa, who became Acting CEO in November 2023, Bomas of Kenya continues to enhance its role as a hub for cultural education, tourism, and entertainment, reflecting the richness of Kenya’s cultural tapestry.

  • Tourism Promotion: Act as a tourist attraction, drawing both local and international visitors to experience Kenyan culture.
  • Collaboration: Work with local and international organizations to promote cultural exchange and development initiatives.
  • Capacity Building: Train and empower artists and cultural practitioners to improve their skills and opportunities.
  • Research: Conduct research on cultural practices and traditions to document and promote understanding of Kenya’s heritage.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for policies and initiatives that support cultural development and the arts within Kenya.
