The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) in Kenya is a statutory body established under the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2003, to promote the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. Its mandate includes formulating policies, advocating for inclusion, and conducting public awareness campaigns. The NCPWD also provides support services such as rehabilitation and vocational training, collaborates with stakeholders, and conducts research to inform policy development. By monitoring the implementation of disability laws and mobilizing resources, the Council aims to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities across the country.

Harun Hassan, EBS holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. With extensive experience in disability advocacy and management, Harun is committed to promoting the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.

Functions

  • Advocacy: Advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Conducting public awareness campaigns to promote understanding and acceptance of disabilities.
