The Kenya Institute of Business Training (KIBT) was established in 1966 to provide business training and advisory services. It operates under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development, focusing on enhancing entrepreneurial skills and promoting business growth. KIBT offers training in business management, entrepreneurship, and consultancy, targeting individuals, MSMEs, and institutions. Its mandate includes capacity building, developing business plans, conducting research, and supporting small businesses with
practical knowledge to boost economic development and sustainability across Kenya. The institute plays a vital role in
fostering enterprise development at all levels.

CEO: Dr. Catherine W. Waweru

Dr. Catherine W. Waweru, Director of KIBT, holds a PhD in Business Administration from Kenyatta University, with additional degrees from Mt. Kenya and Kenyatta Universities. She has over 30 years of experience in education, public service, and industrial development, previously serving as a Director at the Women Enterprise Fund.
