The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) was established under the Anti-Counterfeit Act No. 13 of 2008 and commenced operations in June 2010. Its primary mandate is to combat counterfeiting and protect intellectual property rights in Kenya. The ACA is responsible for enforcing laws against counterfeit goods, raising public awareness about the dangers of counterfeiting, and ensuring compliance with international standards. By doing so, the authority aims to safeguard consumers, support legitimate businesses, and foster economic growth through the protection of intellectual property.
CEO: Dr. Robi Mbugua Njoroge
Dr. Robi Mbugua Njoroge is the current CEO of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) in Kenya. He holds a Doctorate in Film Studies from Kenyatta University, a Master’s in Intellectual Property from Africa University, and an LLB from Mount Kenya University. With over 20 years of experience in both public and private sectors, he has previously served as CEO of the Kenya Association of Music Producers and has been involved with several educational and media councils.
