The Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) was established in 2001 under the Industrial Property Act (No. 3 of 2001). Its mandate is to oversee the registration and administration of industrial property rights, including patents, trademarks, and designs. KIPI plays a vital role in promoting innovation and protecting intellectual property rights, supporting entrepreneurs and businesses in safeguarding their inventions and creations, and enhancing economic growth through industrial development.

Mr. John Onyango is the CEO of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI). He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Strathmore University and has attended advanced management courses at notable institutions, including the IESE Business School. Prior to his current role, he served as the Deputy Managing Director at KIPI and has extensive experience in the financial services sector.
