Oloile Primary School

Oloile Primary School is a public educational institution located in the southern arid region of Kajiado County, Kenya, near the border with Tanzania and overlooking Mt. Kilimanjaro. Serving a primarily Maasai community, the school has recently been transformed by the installation of a high-yielding borehole in 2023 through a partnership with Well Aware and Waterboys, which replaced their reliance on a distant, contaminated seasonal river. This critical infrastructure has supported a surge in enrollment—growing from 480 to over 600 students—and enabled the school to establish a self-sustaining feeding program by growing and grinding its own corn. The improved health and saved time for students have contributed to a significant academic rise, with the school’s mean performance scores increasing by over 10 points, making it a regional model for resilience and sustainable development.
