Established in 1999 in the Mosiro area of Kajiado County, Naning’oi Primary School (also known as Naning’oi Illanyuak) is a vital public institution that serves both as a school and a rescue centre for young Maasai girls escaping early childhood marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). As the only female-focused facility within a 500-square-kilometre radius, it provides a safe haven for over 350 students who would otherwise be out of school. Although the school was handed over to the Kenyan government in 2014 and faced a period of severe decline, it was revitalised in 2017 by community women led by alumnus Selina Nkoile through the Nashipai Maasai Community Project.
