New Kihumbuini Primary

New Kihumbuini Primary School is a prominent public, mixed-gender day school established in 1982 to alleviate overcrowding at the neighboring Kihumbuini Primary School within the Kangemi informal settlement of Westlands, Nairobi. As of 2025, the school serves approximately 1,278 students—consisting of 628 boys and 650 girls—supported by a staff of 28 teachers. Despite facing significant challenges related to high pupil-to-classroom ratios (roughly 53:1) and local poverty, the school has seen substantial infrastructure improvements through the Westlands NG-CDF, including classroom refurbishments with modern tiling, metallic doors, and a secure perimeter wall.
