The Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre (KAGRC) was established under the Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre Act, No. 14 of 2012 to conserve, improve, and promote the sustainable use of animal genetic resources in Kenya. KAGRC focuses on enhancing livestock productivity by providing quality genetic material, including semen and embryos, for breeding purposes. The Centre plays a key role in improving livestock breeds, supporting food security, and boosting the agricultural economy. It also conducts research, provides training, and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure the effective use of animal genetics for sustainable development.

CEO: Dr. Benadatte J. Misoi

Dr. Benadatte J. Misoi holds a Ph.D. in Animal Genetics and Breeding and has extensive experience in livestock research and genetic resource management. She has served in various leadership and technical roles, focusing on improving animal productivity, genetic conservation, and advancing sustainable breeding programs to enhance Kenya’s livestock sector.
