The Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) was established under the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Para-Professionals Act, Cap 366 in 1980. It is responsible for regulating and overseeing the practice of veterinary medicine and related professions in Kenya. The Board ensures that veterinary surgeons and para-professionals maintain high standards of practice through registration, licensing, and continuous professional development. KVB also plays a key role in promoting animal health, welfare, and public safety by enforcing ethical standards, addressing malpractice, and ensuring that veterinary services meet the needs of both animals and the community.

Dr. Mary T. Agutu is the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) previously Manager of Quality Assurance Department of the Board. She holds a Master’s Degree in Medical Virology and a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine with 25 years experience in field practice and capacity building of veterinary paraprofessionals.
