The Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) was established under the Investment Promotion Act No. 6 of 2004 to promote and facilitate investment in Kenya. Its mandate includes attracting both local and foreign investments, providing investor assistance, licensing, and offering aftercare services to ensure smooth project implementation. KenInvest also advocates for an improved business environment and advises the government on investment policy. Notable achievements include attracting significant FDI inflows, simplifying investment procedures, and establishing Kenya as a key investment hub in Africa through partnerships with global institutions like the UNDP and World Bank.

Ms. Florence Benta Were is the Acting Managing Director of Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest). She has extensive experience in policy formulation, strategic planning, and public sector management. Previously, she served as a Principal Economist in the State Department for Economic Planning. She holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Economics from Kenyatta University.
